Youth Mental Health Day (YMHD) Fundraising Challenge, Terms and Conditions.
Thank you for your interest in raising funds to support stem4’s vital work for teenage mental health. We receive no funding for the work we do and rely entirely on voluntary donations from the public to fund our work.
To protect stem4 and the young people we work to help, all fundraisers must adhere to the following terms and conditions. Agreeing to these terms allows you to use our charity name (‘stem4’) and our ‘YMHD’ (Youth Mental Health Day) materials for your fundraising activity.
This stem4 fundraiser is free to enter and open to all schools, however, the entry registration needs to be completed by those aged 18 and over and employed by the Education sector. The responsible adult will assume responsibility and ensure compliance with these terms and conditions.
- YMHD Registration
- In order to register for the stem4 YMHD competition please sign up via the stem4 webpage – https://stem4.org.uk/ymhdfundraisingchallenge/
- Registration to this competition will require providing personal information such as name, school email address, school name, school physical address and school contact details.
- We recommend that the fundraising event will end on the 25th October 2024 in order for funds to be transferred to stem4 by the 8th November 2024.
- stem4 will not accept responsibility if contact details provided are incomplete or inaccurate.
- YMHD Prizes
- Prizes will be awarded to participants based on fundraising achievements, creativity, or other criteria determined by stem4.
- The winning school will be awarded the title “stem4’s 2024/5 Ambassador School”. They will be given a logo and social media assets with “stem4’s 2024/5 Ambassador School” branding, a certificate, a personalised trophy, a selection of stem4’s mental health resources and stem4 merchandise.
- The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
- The decision of stem4 regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
- YMHD Winner Announcement
- The winner will be notified after the 8th of November 2024 via the email address provided during registration. At this point the school’s physical address will be requested in order for the prize to be posted to the winning school.
- stem4 will make two attempts to contact the winner by email. If the winner does not respond to the email that informs them of their win within 14 days of the second email, they will lose their right to the prize, and stem4 reserves the right to choose and notify a new winner.
- Please allow 14 days for delivery of the prize. The prizes will be delivered both electronically and physically.
- Data Protection and Publicity
- You consent to any personal information you provide in entering this fundraising competition being used by stem4 for the purposes of administering the prize draw, and for those purposes as defined within our stem4’s Privacy Policy.
- All personal information shall be used in accordance with stem4’s Privacy Policy.
- Independence from and protection of stem4
- You are organising fundraising activities as an independent supporter of stem4 (registered charity no. 1144506 (England and Wales), raising funds for stem4’s work.
- All references on your materials should state, ‘raising money in support of stem4.’
- You will organise all aspects of your fundraising and will be responsible to ensure all necessary permissions and licences have been obtained. stem4 accepts no liability relating to your fundraising activity.
- Participants must abide by all local laws and regulations regarding fundraising activities.
- All fundraising activities must be legal, ethical and in compliance with application laws and regulations.
- Planning and delivery must be carried out in a manner that preserves the positive reputation of stem4.
- If appropriate, you must ensure that the activity is covered by full and comprehensive insurance. stem4 is not liable for any injury to person or material damage or loss which results from your fundraising activity.
- You must email communications@stem4.org.uk to request approval before approaching any companies, national press or celebrities to support your fundraising activities.
- stem4 is apolitical and as such, you will not use stem4’s name in any political activity.
- Use of stem4 volunteer fundraiser materials
- Fundraising support materials are available to help promote your fundraising activities. You must not alter these materials aside from adding your fundraising event details where required.
- You shall not use the stem4 logo or ‘YMHD’ logo in any way other than via stem4 supplied fundraising materials for the purpose of fundraising.
- Dealing with the money raised for stem4
- If you want to be eligible to win the title of ‘stem4 Ambassador School’ all funds collected/raised are to be transferred to stem4 within 2 weeks of the activity ending (i.e. by the 8th November 2024). If you are not able to do this, then you must inform us in writing by contacting ymhd@stem4.org.uk and let us know when the funds will be transferred.
- You must not use your fundraising for any kind of commercial or private financial gain (i.e. keeping part of the proceeds over and above any costs for materials, see below).
- Funds are payable to stem4 through Just Giving or Enthuse.

- If you’d like to let us know or show us what you’ve accomplished for your fundraising and awareness activities please feel free to email us at education@stem4.org.uk by the 8th November 2024. By sending us your images and stories you give consent for us to use these in our social media communications.
- Terms for specific fundraising activities
8.1 Challenge events
- By taking part in a challenge event, you pledge to raise as much as you can for stem4.
- If you obtain sponsorship for your participation, you shall encourage sponsors to make gift aid declarations by directing sponsors to donate via your online fundraising page.
- If you participate in a challenge event, you confirm you are medically fit and participation is at your own risk. stem4 is not liable for injury or illness resulting from your participation.
- If your event is cancelled, you should let anyone know who has donated to your page, so they can apply for a refund should they wish. Otherwise, you should transfer all donations made to stem4.
- By registering, you confirm you are over the age of 18.

- stem4 reserves the right to cancel the fundraising competition or amend these terms and conditions at any time and without prior notice.
- The fundraising competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by UK law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
