We’re thrilled to share that stem4’s Clear Fear app has been awarded “Most Innovative Mental Health Intervention” at The Mental Health Awards 2025.
This award recognises mental health interventions that are clinically grounded, co-created with young people and those who support them, creatively delivered, and backed by robust outcome data, delivering real impact for those experiencing mental health challenges and who are unable to access effective support.
About Clear Fear
Developed by stem4, the UK’s leading digital mental health charity for children and young people, Clear Fear helps users manage anxiety using evidence-based techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). A study on Clear Fear also found that, in addition to reducing symptoms of anxiety, it helped alleviate symptoms of low mood.
Through practical tools, guided exercises, and supportive resources, the app empowers young people to recognise, challenge, and manage anxious thoughts, behaviours, and feelings. While particularly useful in addressing anxiety-related challenges such as exam stress and social anxiety, Clear Fear can also be used alongside treatment for anxiety disorders, including phobias, school non-attendance, and anxiety symptoms linked to trauma.

To date, Clear Fear has supported over one million children and young people worldwide, helping them build resilience, reduce anxiety symptoms, and improve engagement in school and friendships-enhancing overall wellbeing and helping them thrive.
This recognition highlights Clear Fear’s positive impact and stem4’s ongoing mission to improve young people’s mental health through accessible, effective digital innovation.

Anxiety is one of the most common challenges facing students today, yet many schools lack the time, tools, or resources to respond effectively.
To help address this, stem4 has developed Clear Fear for Schools (CFS), an evidence-based programme that empowers schools to tackle anxiety head-on.
What Is Clear Fear for Schools?
Clear Fear for Schools builds on the clinically validated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach- an evidenced psychological framework for anxiety reduction, of the Clear Fear app, offering a whole-school strategy that supports students, teachers, and families alike.
The programme includes:
- Clinically validated CBT tools that students can access instantly
- Parent and carer resources for consistent support beyond the classroom
- Ready-to-deliver classroom modules on increasing wellbeing and managing anxiety for teachers
- Anonymous insights dashboards for leadership teams
Designed to work with any school’s smartphone or device policy, Clear Fear for Schools integrates effortlessly into existing wellbeing strategies.
“There is a massive need for schools to support students struggling with anxiety every day, but our teachers often lack time, resources, and expertise to reach every student. Having a clinically validated resource like Clear Fear, which students can access instantly, makes a real difference. We’re excited to start using it to provide immediate, evidence-based support when it’s needed most.”
