Get Involved with our #BeBrave Activities!
There are so many ways in which you can get involved with Youth Mental Health Day this year. Why not take part in our #BeBrave Wall activity, share what #BeBrave means to you on social media, write to your MP, or fundraise for stem4.
No matter how you choose to get involved on 19 September, make sure you share it with us! Email us at YMHD@stem4.org.uk, or tag us on social media @stem4org. Make sure you remember to use our hashtag #stem4YMHD.
This September, the stem4 team will be hosting a #BeBrave wall event in the centre of Wimbledon, South West London. We will be inviting members of the public to share what #BeBrave means to them by writing it on our wall. The aim of the activity is to highlight that being brave means something different to everyone, that all of us are brave in our own way every day, and to inspire one another with our bravery.
Why not do the same in your school, university, workplace or even at home?
By creating a display using paper, cardboard, whiteboards (or whatever you like!) you can encourage others to share how they will be brave, sparking a healthy discussion surrounding wellbeing and positive mental health.

On September 19 (YMHD), stem4 is encouraging young people to post on social media what it means for them to #BeBrave. Bravery looks different to everyone, but by opening up a conversation about how we each challenge ourselves to #BeBrave every day, we aim to highlight the importance of positive discussions about mental health.
Whether you post a picture, write something, or even film a video, stem4 would love to see what it means for you to #BeBrave this Youth Mental Health Day.
You can also download our YMHD social media pack here.
When you post, make sure you use our hashtag #stem4YMHD.
And don’t forget to tag us @stem4org.

Your MP represents you in Parliament, so if there is an issue that matters to you, let them know. Writing to your MP is an effective, quick, and easy way to raise awareness about youth mental health issues.
Who is my MP?
You can find out who your local MP is, and what their contact details are, here.
How can I contact my MP?
You can contact your MP at either their constituency office or their parliament office by telephone, letter, or by email. Find out your MPs details here.
How do I write to my MP?
- You can write to your MP via email, or by sending a handwritten or typed letter.
- Make sure you include your name and address to show that you are part of their constituency. MPs only listen to concerns from their own constituents.
- Explain why you care about youth mental health. A personal letter will be more memorable and effective.
- Explain to your MP what you want them to do, and ask them to take action.
- Make sure you ask for a response. Ask your MP to write back to you to confirm they have taken action.
- If your MP takes action, thank them for their work.
Letter template
stem4 have created a letter template to guide you. We have outlined some of the current issues surrounding mental health provision for young people in the UK, and what you may want to ask your MP to do to take action.
MPs are most likely to respond to a personalised letter, so make sure that you write a bit about you and why you are passionate about youth mental health.

Letter template for Schools and Colleges
stem4 have also created a letter template for schools and colleges, so that you can send a letter to your local MP as a class or as a form group.

Thank you for helping stem4 in our fight to ensure that all young people receive the support that they need and deserve.
If you have any queries about writing to your MP, or any updates about how you get on, please email us at YMHD@stem4.org.uk.
