We are delighted to share that stem4 has been backed by The Fore to support the next phase of Clear Fear for Schools, our whole-school, evidence-based programme designed to reduce stress and anxiety whilst building resilience across secondary school communities.
Clear Fear for Schools builds on the success of our award-winning Clear Fear app, translating clinically grounded Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches into accessible psychoeducation and practical resources that schools can embed flexibly alongside existing wellbeing provision. The programme is designed to strengthen whole-school wellbeing by supporting students early and at scale, rather than one pupil at a time once crisis has been reached.
Thanks to The Fore’s unrestricted funding, stem4 will expand access to Clear Fear for Schools across secondary schools over a 12-month period. This will enable us to generate robust evidence of impact and value, supporting national scale-up while developing a sustainable earned-income model that keeps the programme affordable and accessible, particularly for state schools.
At a time when one in four young adults have a probable mental health disorder and over 270,000 children are waiting for NHS mental health support, early intervention and prevention are critical. Evidence from Clear Fear for Schools shows that 8 out of 10 students report both reduced anxiety symptoms and a reduced need to seek professional support following engagement with the programme, demonstrating the potential of accessible, evidence-based digital tools to make a meaningful difference.
Dr Nihara Krause MBE, Founder and CEO of stem4, said:
“Young people’s anxiety is rising faster than services can respond, which is why early, preventative support is so vital. Clear Fear for Schools enables schools to provide evidence-based anxiety support to all students, not just those already in crisis. We are incredibly grateful to The Fore recognising the programme’s huge potential and for backing this next phase of growth. With them, we are one step closer to our ambition of making effective mental health support accessible to every school.”
