In September 2023, leading youth mental health charity stem4 announced it had received a prestigious contract from Ofcom to run an innovate “Media Literacy & Mental Health” training.

Led by mental health and digital wellbeing experts Dr Nihara Krause MBE and Dr Richard Graham, the training empowers and equips professionals in how to protect young people’s mental health from online harms and the spread of disinformation.

From September 2023 to February 2024, 90% of attendees have said that they would recommend this training. Here are some of the comments we have received:

This training was very relevant as I work with young people all of the time and many of them are impacted by social media.

I was pleased to hear the speakers talk about digital exclusion/ inclusivity and minoritized communities.

I am really interested in this topic so I am glad I found this training and really enjoyed learning more. Thank you.

💡“It was an excellent run through. So content rich with resources provided and the recording to follow.”
💡“There is a lot of unawareness from schools, parents and children themselves about devices, settings, the impact of the Internet. I feel this training needs to be in everyone household / care home and school in the country.”
💡“Well presented and extremely informative!”

Social Media Pack

We don’t want young people to feel alone in the challenges they face online and want as many professionals to learn from mental health experts how to talk to young people about their online lives. To spread the word for this training, especially while it is free in February, we have created a social media pack you can download to say you have completed the “Media Literacy & Mental Health” training and also a social media pack to say you will be attending the “Intro to Online Safety First Aid”.  Add your company logo or post as an individual to your network.
