For the fourth time since 2020, a determined group of runners and walkers sponsored by Diespeker made the journey from London to Malta to take part in the Malta Marathon and Half Marathon. Their goal? To raise funds and awareness for stem4.
A Day of Perfect Running Conditions
Unlike 2024’s torrential downpour, this year’s participants were treated to ideal running weather, with clear skies and a comfortable 16°C on race day. The 40th anniversary of the Malta Marathon saw a record-breaking 1,096 runners taking on the full 42K course, which winds its way from the ancient city of Mdina down to the coastline, finishing in the bustling town of Sliema.
Among the participants was Diespeker MD John Krause, an experienced marathon runner who completed his 220th race with an impressive sub-4 hour time of 3:56:26, placing 16th in his age group. The remaining members of the team took on the 21K Malta Half Marathon, showcasing incredible determination and enthusiasm.
The Real Victory: Fundraising for stem4
While race times are impressive, the true achievement of the event was the impact made for stem4. The team from marketing company Terra Ferma Media raised nearly £1,700, while Yvette Nielsony secured an additional £410 in solo fundraising. Altogether, over £2,100 was raised to help provide vital mental health resources, including stem4’s life-saving apps, such as Calm Harm and Clear Fear, which support young people managing anxiety and self-harm.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and donated. Your efforts are helping to ensure that young people struggling with their mental health have access to the resources they need. Until next year!
Continuing the Challenge: London Marathon 2025
Next on the fundraising calendar is the London Marathon on April 27th, where John Krause will take on his 222rd marathon in a bid to raise at least £3,222 for stem4.
