Calling all universities!
We know university students need mental health support now more than ever. As a charity we are driven by need, not profit.
We are therefore pleased to announce that we are offering four universities subsidised licences of our Clear Fear app, which is proven to reduce anxiety symptoms in 92% of cases.
About Clear Fear
Clear Fear is an app, funded by mental health charity stem4 to help manage the symptoms of anxiety.
It was developed by Clinical Psychologist Dr. Nihara Krause MBE, in collaboration with young people and uses the evidence-based treatment CBT to focus on learning to reduce the physical responses to threat by learning to breathe, relax and be mindful as well as changing thoughts and behaviours and releasing emotions.
An Immediate Help section is available to help manage extreme anxiety or feelings of panic. Each user is encouraged to set up a ‘safety net’ when they download the Clear Fear app, which provides an opportunity to note anxiety-reducing thoughts and coping behaviours as well as list helpful contacts.
The Clear Fear app is password-protected and confidential.
How can Clear Fear help students at university?
An ONS survey found that 37% of first year students showed moderate to severe symptoms of depression and 39% showed signs of likely having some form of anxiety (ONS, 2021).
Whilst a university counsellor can see one patient at a time during university hours only. Clear Fear provides evidence-based psychological support
- To all students
- At the same time
- Whenever they need
- Wherever they are
Clear Fear saves universities money by effectively managing more instances of low-level anxiety for less.
Licensing opportunity for universities
What is an app licence?
Your licence is a customised version of our existing app, meaning you benefit from the large investment we have already made in co-creating it with young people, ensuring it is clinically safe and up-to-date, as well as incorporating the key psychological therapies that make our apps so effective.
- Enabling you to brand the apps, ensuring trust amongst your student population and encouraging higher uptake and usage
- Allowing you to signpost to the local or on-site mental health resources that your students will find most helpful, rather than national, catch-all resources helping them find more appropriate support and faster
- Providing you with anonymised data insights so you can not only analyse the behaviours of your students and their mental health, but also channel on-the-ground resources to where they are actually needed
As a hypothetical example, you might notice that students living in a particular accommodation or who are studying a particular course are displaying higher levels of anxiety. These en masse insights are not otherwise possible and allow you to provide specific groups of students with the targeted support that they really need.
We’re a charity, driven by need not profit. And we know that university students really need us right now.
That’s why we’re offering 4 subsidised licenses, so you can see the benefits for yourself.
