Double the difference for young people’s mental health

stem4 is back participating in the Big Give’s Small Charity Week campaign, and this year, every pound you give is matched to help even more young people access life-changing mental health support.

Our thanks go to the Aeonian Foundation who are providing us with up to £10,000 of matched funding.

🗓️  22 to 29 June 2026  ·  Big Give Small Charity Week

Every donation made through the Big Give is matched pound for pound, at no extra cost to you. We’re aiming to raise £20,000, and we need just £10,000 in public donations to get there.

Why This Matters

Right now, too many young people are struggling with their mental health, and far too many are doing it alone.

  • 1 in 5 children and young people in England have a probable mental health disorder (NHS England, 2023)
  • 910,567 young people were referred to CAMHS in 2023/24, with 64% not receiving treatment within four weeks (Young Minds, 2023)
  • 50% of stem4 app users have no other professional mental health support available to them (stem4 Annual Report 2024-2025)
  • Funding in the UK charity sector is highly concentrated. The Fore reports that 92% of funding goes to the largest 8% of charities

Our five apps (supporting anxiety, depression, self-harm and eating disorders) have been downloaded more than 5.7 million times worldwide. They provide immediate, discreet, evidence-based support. No referral needed and no waiting list.

What young people and professionals say

“This app helped me so much. I got a new personal best. I haven’t self-harmed in over a month and it’s because of this app. This app is the most amazing thing I’ve ever found.”

App store review · Young person

“stem4’s apps stand out as clinically-validated tools that bring effective therapies directly to young people, providing immediate support which we simply cannot offer in stretched primary care settings. Clear Fear bridges an important gap in care delivery.”

Dr Amit Seyan · NHS GP partner and stem4 Trustee

“There is a massive need for schools to support students struggling with anxiety every day. Having a clinically validated resource like Clear Fear, which students can access instantly, will make a real difference.”

Amanda Collyer · Student Support and Wellbeing Ambassador, Howard of Effingham School
