Depression module

Through this module, you will gain an understanding of the topic of depression and that whilst low mood or sadness, or grief, after you’ve lost someone, is something all young people might experience from time to time and is part of life, depression is an illness. It is therefore sometimes called clinical depression to help separate it from low mood and sadness.

You will learn that clinical depression often has lasting, low mood and that it needs to be diagnosed by a health professional. You will be taught to understand the different ways depression can affect someone, as well as what triggers these reactions and how to spot the early signs of depression. This module will teach ways of managing depression, emphasising that early help means quicker change. Depression responds very well to psychological treatment.
