Carbon Reduction Plan
Supplier name: stem4
Publication date: 5 February 2026
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
stem4 is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.
stem4 is committed to protecting the environment by demonstrating a high standard of environmental responsibility in all our operations and minimising the environmental impacts associated with our activities and services.
Baseline emissions and current emissions
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
| Baseline Year: 2025 | |
| Scope 1
Direct greenhouse gas emissions that occur from sources that are controlled or owned by the stem4 (e.g., fuel combustion in boilers, furnaces, vehicles). |
Total (tCO2e) = 0
Explanation: stem4 does not own or operate vehicles or combustion equipment. |
| Scope 2
Indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with the purchase of electricity, steam, heat and cooling (gas and electricity use in buildings). |
Total (tCO2e) = 0
Explanation: stem4 operates fully remotely and does not control office energy use. |
| Scope 3
All sources not within stem4’s scope 1 and 2, including:
|
Total (tCO2e) = 3.69 tonnes |
| Total baseline emissions = | 3.69 tonnes |
The 2025 baseline emissions will be used to track future reductions. Current emissions for 2026 will be calculated and reported once complete data is available.
Emissions calculation methodology
Emissions have been calculated in line with the GHG Protocol using the SME Climate Hub Small Business Carbon Calculator, which applies UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting where applicable.
Carbon reduction projects
stem4 commits to reducing Scope 3 emissions by 10% by 2030 against the 2025 baseline.
stem4 has started taking actions to reduce carbon emissions, such as:
- increasing remote working and virtual meetings – reduces travel emissions
- reducing travel – lowers Scope 3 travel emissions
- prioritising local suppliers – reduces upstream distribution emissions
- having a digital-first approach – reduces paper and downstream emissions
